David A. Miller
I have practiced in the area of family law since 1986 and have conducted numerous trainings on family law topics. From 2001 through 2010, I worked with mid-sized family law firms in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, during which time my practice was focused almost completely on resolving family law cases. I witnessed firsthand the emotional and financial toll which resolving family law cases using the litigation model can have on individuals. In October 2006 I attended a seminar with Stuart Webb and Ron Ousky and realized that the collaborative law method for resolving cases was the key to reducing the emotional toll on families going through separation or divorce. On December 1, 2006, I was with the original group of attorneys that formed the first local collaborative practice group in Pittsburgh. That group, the 'Collaborative Law Association of Southwestern Pennsylvania,' has now grown from 8 members to over 60 members. I have also become the first chairperson of the newly formed Collaborative Law Committee of the Pennsylvania Bar Association. I have been a presenter at numerous local bar association seminars introducing collaborative law to attorneys in my area. On January 1, 2011, I started David Miller Law Offices, a sole proprietorship, to further my interest in achieving a full-time collaborative law and mediation practice.
