Barbara Hummel
Barbara has worked with couples and families as a Licensed Professional Counselor for over 25 years. She is a writer, presenter and owner of Effective Parenting Programs. Barbara is a trained Divorce Mediator and a Collaborative Neutral Coach. Barbara began working as a Collaborative Practitioner ten years ago and works with clients who are pre-divorce, going through the Collaborative divorce process, and post-decree. The emphasis of her work is to assist couples with their communication, shared parenting plans, and co-parenting skills. As a member of the Collaborative team, Barbara works with the other team members to facilitate the most effective work that the team can provide the clients. Her work in her local Collaborative community began when she became part of the committee to recruit and provide training to mental health professionals who werre interested in the role of the Collaborative Coach as part of the mutlidisciplinary team in Cincinnati, OH. Barbara is a member of the Board of Directors for the Cincinnati Academy of Collaborative Professionals. She has been an integral part of creating the standards and the protocols for the Collaborative Family Relations Specialist in Cincinnati, OH. She has assisted in the annual planning for the advanced annual trainings available for the members of her Collaborative community. Barbara has been trained at the IACP Forum in the advanced Seminar for Trainers. She has presented a two day Basic Collaborative Training with Sherri Goren Slovin and Amy Whitlatch. Barbara has presented three training seminars at the basic and advanced level at the IACP Forums regarding the role of the mental health professional in the Collaborative process. Barbara works as a mentor with new mental health professionals beginning their work in the Collaborative process. Barbara and her former husband completed the Collaborative process in 1998, which has given her valuable insight into the Collaborative experience from the role of the client and the professional.
