Bobbie Corley OKeefe
I have been practicing law in Ohio since 1992. After receiving my Bachelor's Degree in English from Miami University, I worked in the communications field for both the public (mental health) and private (health insurance) sectors. During that time, I received an extensive amount of para-professional training in various mental health related issues, including alcoholism and drug addiction, family systems, child development, suicide and domestic violence. I volunteered for a number of years for a community crisis hotline. This experience deepened my empathy and understanding of families in crisis, especially for children and parents going through divorce. When I opened my own practice in 1999, focusing primarily on family law, I immediately gravitated toward collaborative practice as I firmly believe that a peaceful, non-litigated termination of a marriage for many transitioning families is the best solution for all involved. Since 2002 I have been on the Board of Trustees (now Board of Directors) for the local collaborative practice group (now a non-profit, professional corporation called Collaborative Divorce Professionals, Inc.), serving as an officer (including president) and committee chairperson.

I am in the process of designing a basic and intermediate training program with other collaborative attorneys in my practice group to be offered for the first time in the winter/spring of 2010. I have given many presentations on collaborative law to my practice group, as well as to members of the bar. In 2008 and 2009 I gave introductory presentations on collaborative divorce at a domestic relations training sponsored by the Ohio State Bar Association, to the Family Law Committee of the Columbus Bar Association, and to the members of the Crawford County Bar Association.
