Janis M. Pritchard
Janis M. Pritchard is a member of the Law Society of Alberta and received her call to the Bar in 1977, graduating with distinction. She is a partner in the firm of Pritchard and Company LLP and her practice for the past 20 years has been restricted to family law. Janis' practice is now restricted to Collaborative Family Law and Mediation. Janis is a Registered Family Mediator in Alberta and has received advanced training in Collaborative Law, Interdisciplinary Collaborative Practice, Interest Based Negotiation and Mediation. Janis is the founding President of the Association of Collaborative Professionals (Medicine Hat & Brooks). Janis was key to implementing Collaborative Practice in Medicine Hat and other centers in Alberta, Saskatchewan, the Northwest Territories, Yukon, British Columbia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island and providing Collaborative training in Alberta, Saskatchewan, British Columbia, the Northwest Territories, Prince Edward Island, Ontario, Minnesota, New Brunswick, Austria, Yukon, Australia, Maryland and Virginia. Janis is a past member of the board of the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals where she co-chaired the IACP Board Committee dealing with Standards for Collaborative Professionals and co-chaired the Advisory Council on Collaborative Training and Practice of the IACP. The Medicine Hat Collaborative Practice group has revolutionized the divorce process for clients and the practice of family law in Medicine Hat.

Collaborative Divorce Lawyer Training - Basic (Two days) ** - A basic program for lawyers providing the essential 'nuts and bolts' of Collaborative Law within the Collaborative Divorce Team context.
Collaborative Divorce Lawyer Training - Advanced (Two days) ** - A skill-building program for Collaborative Lawyers within the Collaborative Divorce Team context.
Interest Based Negotiation - Basic (Two days) ** - A program for all Collaborative Professionals to understand and practice interest based negotiation within Collaborative Practice. Programs with '**', while taught from a Team perspective, are designed to assist all mental health, financial, and legal Collaborative Professionals, whether or not practicing in the Collaborative Divorce Team approach.
Collaborative Divorce Interdisciplinary Team Training - Advanced (One day) - A program for all Collaborative Professionals that addresses 'difficult conversations', providing skills for giving effective feedback to both couples and team colleagues, as well as role playing actual cases.
Collaborative Divorce Interdisciplinary Team Training - Advanced (Two days) - For all Collaborative Professionals offering an in depth communication skills training for lawyers, mental health and financial professionals, as well as advanced case consultation and role-plays of challenging cases.
Interviewing Children and Providing Feedback to Parents in Collaborative Divorce - Advanced (One day) - An interactive skill-building program that advances the understanding of the Child Specialist role in Collaborative Divorce.
Collaborative Divorce Case Consultation - Interdisciplinary Team - Advanced (One or two days) - Interactive case consultation using cases provided by the participants regarding ethical, practice group, and team concerns in the Collaborative Divorce process.
Care and Feeding of Your Practice Group ---(One or two days) - Skills and knowledge essential for building effective interdisciplinary practice groups.
