Community Analysis & Model Design
Interdisciplinary Training in Collaborative Practice
The Collaborative Law Training Associates (CLTA) are a team of experienced interdisciplinary professionals who
offer your community an opportunity to begin, or expand, the development of collaborative law services designed
to meet the unique needs of your community. Consultation begins where your community is ' whether no collaborative practice service exists or if the existing services need to expand into an interdisciplinary model.
We believe that it is critical to first help you understand the unique characteristics of your community so that
the model you follow makes sense for you. This means taking into consideration the current structure and attitude
of your legal system, as well as the size, demographics, geography and resources of your community. As Collaborative Practice has developed around North America, various communities have developed along
certain lines. Many began and remain committed to an attorneys only model, using other professionals/experts on
an ad hoc basis as deemed necessary. Other communities have developed interdisciplinary models which formally
incorporate other professionals into service provision teams. There are various combinations between. We believe the success of any model can be improved by choosing a model which is right for your particular community, whether it is just beginning to consider the development of collaborative practice services, or expanding into an interdisciplinary model.
Assessment
Collaborative Law Training Associates, (CLTA) meets with community leaders to help assess the unique
characteristics of the community and assist participants in designing a model that will work for them.

WHY YOU SHOULD ATTEND
There appears to be general agreement that the emotional and financial costs of litigation are out of control.
Collaborative Practice discourages the often destructive and divisive war created by litigation, while encouraging
creative, time-saving, cost-effective resolution of issues through the involvement of clients, their attorneys and
other professionals in the process of settlement.
TRAINING FORMAT
Trainings utilize a mix of lectures, power point, interactive exercises, demonstrations and role plays to enhance the participants™ knowledge and skills in collaborative practice.
