(Lawyer/Mediator)
'To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children..to leave the world a better place..to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded.' -Ralph Waldo Emerson-
Every time I read that quote I think it is time for a new qoute. Well, it's still there. Besides being fun to say, I like the quote for a few reasons. First, it reminds me that life is not easy and that things often do not turn out as we had expected. Second, it reminds me that we do not simply have to let things happen to us or accept the outcomes or misfortunes. And third, it reminds me that it is in our ability to make choices to positively change our lives for our benefit and for our families.
Our greatest power is found in our decision to choose. Our greatest choices are made when we have the best information and allow our best selves to engage in the process.
My goal is to assist you in fully understanding your options, explaining the inherent benefits of resolving your conflicts, and to help you make choices regarding your life rather then leaving those decision to someone else.
We all can do this; regardless of the unique challenges you currently face. The key is to make a choice by making a conscious decision to take a path that will lead you to a destination of your choosing. You do not simply have to allow others (lawyers, judges, friends, spouses) to make the choice. There is true power in your decision. Whatever decision is made, let it be you that is making it. We are here to help. -Kevin

| General Comments |
My education, training and life experieces brought me to Collaborative Law. from my pre-law experieces with conflicts in corporate life, to my first Mediation training in 1994, to 18 years of 'winning' custody battles, to speaking with Pauline Tessler and Stu Webb, and some serious soul searching about how I wanted to use my educational and experience to help families.
My interest in collaborative law reflects my fundamental reason for becomng a lawyer; which was to help people. In Collaborative Law, my unique set of skills and abilities can truly assist people in creating resolutions to their conflicts that can be creative, respectful, acceptable and lasting resolutions to their particulary issues. This is not a one-stop, on size fits all approach, but rather an approach that allows clients to set their own aspirations and goals. Then with the assistance of your attorney, the Collaborative Team, which can include other collaborative professionals such as Coaches, Parent Educators, Finanacial Professional, and whomever else may be of assistance, then creates the best posssible culture for developing lasting agreements that are of your choosing. 'We are Here to Help.' |
