Felicia A Malsby, JD
(Lawyer/Mediator)
|
I focus solely on collaborative divorce and mediation because I believe so strongly in a family's right to transition on their own terms. My unique strengths include being able to help parties understand the nature of their conflict and address their fears while sorting out their legal issues and assisting them with redefining their relationship with the other party. Collaborative practice and mediation benefit the parties in ways that will enhance their future relationships with each other, their children, and extended families well into the future. My style is purely non-adversarial. I attempt to assist clients with seeking understanding while reaching peaceful resolutions in creating an outcome unique to them.

| General Comments |
| I view collaborative practice as a catalyst for social change. After a decade of litigating, I determined there had to be a better way to help divorcing couples transition through such a major life event without the further harm the traditional legal system imposes. I then discovered Collaborative Practice and learned all I could to understand this model's philosophy. Collaborative Practice has become my professional passion. The results I see in my daily practice with clients are astounding and transformational and confirms my belief that there is a better way to divorce. My commitment to this model has led to my founding of our thriving local practice group, the implementation of our statewide organization, and to leading trainings and continuing education seminars in an effort to educate the public and potential collaborative professionals about Collaborative Practice, while at the same time constantly striving to improve my own skills as a collaborative practitioner. I was recognized for my efforts in collaborative practice by being named the 2010 Family Law Attorney of the Year by the Family Law Section of the Tacoma/Pierce County Bar Association. |
