| General Comments |
It became apparent to me early in my career that our legal system is ill-equipped to provide solutions to divorcing couples. Judges simply do not have the time or resources necessary to gain an understanding of each family's unique needs. For this reason, I am strongly committed to the collaborative process.
Advantages to collaborative process:
-Custom-fit solution replaces 'one size fits all'
-No decisions are made without both parties' consent
-Parties maintain control of timing, cost and outcome
-Children benefit from parenting and support plans focused on their best interests
-Removes the threat of 'I'll see you in court.'
-Settlement conferences replace court appearances
-Problem-solving approach rather than win/lose |
