Joseph A Losi, MFT
(Mental Health Professional)
My clients tell me that I help them believe that with courage and commitment they can create a better life for themselves and by example for their children.
At the age of 52, while co-parenting two teenage sons I choose to create a better life for myself by returning to graduate school to pursue a degree in counseling psychology at Antioch University in Seattle. Here I began to learn from my clients that “being heard” was the most essential ingredient in trusting in themselves and creating more successful relationships.
Clinical internships at Antioch and North Shore Youth and Family and now private practice have provided me with intimate experiences of working with couples, individuals and families addressing a wide array of individual mental health and family crisis issues. Recent training in intermediate and advanced skills for divorce coaches has strengthened skills crucial to divorce coaching.
Divorce is never an easy process. There will be conflict. It can ignite old trauma. I will work with you to hold onto your dignity, de-fuse conflict, build new boundaries, learn new trust, self-respect and begin the process of creating a healthy two household family.

Here is an overview of the services I offer as a Divorce Coach
Divorce Coaching:
To Divorce…or Not?
Are you wondering if your marriage can be saved or if it is best to move on? I can help you and your spouse come to an answer through Discernment Counseling.
Discernment Counseling:
Is not solely focused on saving a marriage.
Gives each member of the couple the opportunity to meet in one-on-one sessions to share feelings separately.
Clarifies the direction of your marriage.
90-minute discernment sessions allow each member of a couple the time and space to deeply explore the full scope of their often confusing thoughts and emotions. Sessions are tailored to your needs, and are typically structured to give each member of the couple 30 minutes of individual time followed by 30 minutes together.
Finding the most effective route for a good divorce.
When a decision is made to divorce, I help couples understand the best possible route forward to a good divorce, which may be mediation, collaborative divorce, or a traditional divorce process.
Working with an extensive referral base of family law professionals, attorneys, mediators, financial and mortgage specialists and child mental health professionals as a member of King County Collaborative Law I can direct an individual or couple to the services most closely aligned to their individual needs.
Learning the skills to de-couple effectively.
Although getting divorced can be a battle for many couples, it does not have to be for you and your spouse. Less acrimony is better for your future life, especially if there are children involved. I help divorcing couples learn the communication and negotiation skills needed to de-couple effectively, including:
What you can do to develop more cooperative relations.
How to avoid being triggered by a divorcing or ex-spouse.
How to more effectively negotiate emotionally laden topics.
How to be an effective parent while not being a married partner.
What your role is or has been in creating difficult interactions.
How that role was created & how to alter it.
How to avoid co-parenting no no’s.
How to effectively communicate with your children.
I also help couples construct viable co-parenting plans. Having a co-parenting plan ready can save time and legal expense when filing final parenting plans with the Family Law Court. |
