Collaborative Law is an approach for divorcing couples that allows them to craft an end to their marriage that is unique and appropriate for their own individual circumstances without the acrimonious threat of litigation. This allows the parties to 'divorce with dignity' and work together for the best interests of their family. As a result, parties are typically more vested in agreements reached through the collaborative process than those arrived at through litigation, with less of a recurring need to force either party back into court in an attempt to correct a 'result' which one or neither party wanted. It places both parties in a position where they are emotionally prepared to move forward without their ex-spouse and to allow their ex-spouse to move forward without them, yet at the same time allowing them to co-parent their children in a loving and effective manner. The end goal of this process is for the parties to achieve a 'healthy divorce' and in the long run a 'healthy divorce' saves resources, finanical or otherwise.
