Leonard D Weiler, JD
(Lawyer)
Certified as a Family Law Specialist by the California Board of Legal Specialization, a designation requiring extensive legal experience, demonstrated knowledge of family law, and a solid reputation, Leonard Weiler has been in the private practice of law since 1976. He has been recognized for excellence by inclusion in Martindale Hubbell's Bar Register of Preeminent Attorneys and in Northern California Super Lawyers every year since 2004.
Len recognizes the corrosive effect that adversarial litigation often inflicts on parties to a divorce or other family law matter and is committed to helping clients resolve disputes without going to court. He is active in many regional and statewide Collaborative organizations, including participation on the Board of Directors of Collaborative Practice California as well as the Steering Committee of Collaborative Practie East Bay (CPEB). He is also a founding member and past chair (2002 -- 2004) of the Collaborative Law Association of Contra Costa, a founding member and chair (2004 - 2006) of the Collaborative Practice Group of Contra Costa (CPGCC) and an active member of IACP. He has facilitated cooperative dispute resolution as a divorce mediator since 1985, and is also frequently engaged as a divorce 'special master' or private judge.
A graduate of Colgate University, Len received his law degree with honors from Golden Gate University in 1976, serving as Executive Editor of the Law Review. Peer recognition has been reflected in numerous leadership positions, including President of the Contra Costa County Bar Association Family Law Section (1997), and President of the statewide Association of Certified Family Law Specialists (1998).
