Peggy Thompson, PhD
(Psychological Professional)
While working in the court system as a custody evaluator and high conflict counselor I saw first hand the damage of adversarial divorce. The court system and the adversarial divorce system increase conflict and pain in an already difficult situation. I knew there had to be a better way to restructure the family.
More than a decade ago I started a small group that developed the Collaborative Divorce team approach; a process to maximize the chances of minimizing the pain and of the divorce process while creating positive solutions to family problems.
As a family psychologist I have seen many different results of the divorce process from terrible to very good. My goal is to assist clients to find the best way to end their marriage in a thoughtful and constructive manner. My objective in the development and practice of the Collaborative Divorce model is to provide parents a supportive process in which they can develop an effective new relationship as co-parents, although no longer married.
