Doreen Gardner Brown, CFP® (Financial Professional)

Doreen Gardner Brown is the founder and principal of Gardner Brown Consulting Inc., a firm that delivers financial planning and counselling, retirement planning and workplace personal finance education services. She was honored and recognized by the University of Manitoba in 2010 as one of the top 100 graduates from the Faculty of Home Economics/Human Ecology, for her work in collaborative practice and divorce financial planning.

As a neutral or aligned financial professional for clients using collaborative practice, mediation or settlement oriented processes, Doreen provides independent analysis and personal finance education. She can help clients organize their financial documents and provide projections to illustrate the long term effect of various settlement options.

By combining financial expertise with the legal advice and information clients receive from their lawyers, Doreen assists clients to make informed decisions about assets, financial options and the future. She uses a solution focused approach, providing practical, genuine and reliable guidance to help clients meet life goals.

Doreen has a strong background in personal financial education. Clients may need expert financial advice to make better financial decisions. In these situations, Doreen can quickly provide customized learning experiences that can help clients become more confident about choosing between available options.

Doreen works on a fee only basis and her policy is to not accept any referral or finder fees. She has been in private practice since 1990. Doreen is a Certified Financial Planner® professional in good standing with the Financial Planning Standards Council (FPSC) and also holds the Accredited Financial Counsellor designation from the Association for Financial Counselling and Planning Education (AFCPE).

She is a former co-chair of the Collaborative Divorce Association of Vancouver, has served on the board of the ADFP and was a founding director of the BC Collaborative Practice Roster.
