| General Comments |
| As early as the last year of my undergraduate education, I was aware of the poor fit between family law and the judicial system. Consequently, part of my undergraduate concentration examined the inherent dissonance of family law litigation and its impact upon lawyers. Since I graduated from law school, I have practiced family law exclusively. I came to realize, however, that while I enjoyed the practice I did not enjoy the process or results of 'scorched earth' litigation. The destruction of relationships, be it the relationship between family members or between the lawyers themselves, was inherent and difficult to avoid. The collaborative model offers an alternative way to end relationships and to resolve disputes while maintaining the dignity and integrity of everyone involved. I have committed myself to collaborative family law and welcome the opportunity to help my clients navigate their legal matter in a way that is not focused upon tearing down the other person, but rather upon resolving their matter with the future in mind. |
