| Description: | This course is designed to allow participants to serve as a mediator and better counsel or represent clients in collaborative cases and mediation. A variety of mediation styles and techniques are taught. From his experience as a mediator and a teacher Steven Rosenberg has developed a dynamic, interesting and entertaining approach to facilitate learning. The course also includes an in depth session on marketing.
Participants will develop and refine mediation & collaborative techniques and enhance constructive communication and negotiation skills. The curriculum explores the nature of conflict and demonstrates ways to handle emotions and interpersonal dynamics that can impede resolution.

| Presenters: | Steven Rosenberg, Esq., mediates civil and family law cases and conducts related teaching and training. After 20 years experience in the practice of law he became interested in mediation as a result of frustration with our justice system. He realized that by combining his legal and interpersonal skills as a mediator, he could better serve the ends of justice.
Mr. Rosenberg was an Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of California at Davis and the University of San Francisco teaching Mediation and Negotiation. He has lectured for the California Judicial Council and the State Bar of California. He was selected to provide mediation training for The California Judicial Council, The United States Bankruptcy Court, The California Judges Association, The San Francisco Superior Court, and The Law School at the University of Buenos Aires. He has also presented trainings for Udayana University, Bali Indonesia, the U.S. Postal Service, and the U.S. Department of Education.
He is an Approved Consultant for the Academy of Family Mediators and was a member of the State Bar of California ADR Committee. He is one of six individuals chosen by the American Arbitration Association to develop and serve on their first Family Law Mediation Panel in the United States. He was Chair of the Marin County Bar Association Alternative Dispute Resolution Section, Vice President of the Northern California Mediation Association, and a founding member of the California Dispute Resolution Council. He has been selected as a member of the mediation panels for all Bay Area trial and appellate courts.
Mr. Rosenberg (J.D., 1969, University of Iowa) is admitted to practice in California, Hawaii, Iowa, and the District of Columbia. His legal experience includes: Judge Advocate, U.S. Marine Corps; and private practice in Heidelberg, Germany, Kailua, Hawaii, and Mill Valley, California.
